On the road to a world without nuclear weapons, a new signpost has emerged in a UK wide effort to stop the Trident missile replacement. The campaign ‘Rethink Trident’ was launched in London on 9th September, sponsored by organisations including CND, Pax Christi and War on Want. A statement in support of the campaign was published in a full page advertisement in the Guardian on Saturday 20th September, signed by a variety of organisations as well as hundreds of individuals including religious leaders, celebrities, politicians, and inviting others to join. If you see this as a sign of hope for the future, and a way to help build up a groundswell of opinion, you might like to sign the online petition, which you can find at rethinktrident.org.uk.
