Community Member Bob Thomas  – complete with arthritic knee – is planning to walk the 75 miles between St Columba Church Fareham and St Columba Church of Scotland in central London to raise money for the Iona Abbey Capital Appeal.

This might seem a strange money-raising option for someone with mobility issues  but for Bob, one of the important aspects of the project is that it will improve accessibility in our Abbey Centre for those with similar problems.  As he says “Although the Iona Abbey Capital Appeal might sound like the usual ‘fix the church roof project’ it’s not like that at all. It’s about maintaining the Iona Abbey Centre for its original purpose, making its accommodation more accessible to a wider range of visitors, especially those with mobility issues so that more people can experience the Iona Community’s commitment to sharing hospitality.

Bob will be walking between the 3rd and the 10th of June and you can support him via his Virgin Giving Page
