“So, the world happens twice—
once what we see it as,
second it legends itself
deep, the way it is.”
Ripening in Wisdom: Elder Poets as Sages for the Harvest of Life
18th – 23rd October 2019
The deep vibrant colours of Iona in Autumn provide the prefect backdrop for exploring the rich wisdom to be found in the poetry that is the fruit of a poet’s own ‘harvest years’.
In the first of our 2019 Autumn Encounters retreats, acclaimed poet and translator Mark Burrows from the Protestant University of Applied Sciences, Bochum, will be exploring the “late poems” of some of our best loved contemporary poets – including Mary Oliver and W.S Merwin who both died recently.
Based at the lovely St. Columba Hotel, prices start at £735 per person for the 5 nights and include continental breakfast, lunch, dinner, accommodation and programme charges.
Places can be reserved via the St Columba website or by phoning the hotel on 44 (0)1681 700 304
Further details of the programme and a brief biography of Mark can be found here
