A small group of campaigners, among them a member of the IC, are fasting publicly in the cloisters of Iona Abbey as a part of the International Fast for Nuclear Disarmament from the time the first nuclear bomb was dropped on Hiroshima on Tuesday, 6 August until the time the second was exploded over Nagasaki on Friday 9 August, engaging in conversations with visitors to the Abbey and campaigning for nuclear disarmament worldwide.

    Wednesday afternoon saw an encounter with a woman who after a conversation revealed that she came from the city of Nagasaki; no need to say that she was very happy to find people who knew about the terrible event and were actively campaigning to prevent it ever happening again.
