The Iona Community has many deep, strong and joyful links with Europe – and not just because we have Members and Associate Members who live and work there. These reflections and prayers from the Community are offered in the face of our impending – now imminent – severance from Europe and as we consider how to continue holding to, celebrating and continuing to foster all that has flowed from our close connection with it.
They are available as a digital download from Wild Goose Publications. There is also a German version – Gebete zum Brexit – edited by Members Rosemary Power, Tony Phelan and Reinhild Traitler, which can be downloaded directly from the link above.
In response to this German version, we received a prayer from a German lawyer based on Article 1 of the United Nations Charter. An English translation by Tony Phelan can be downloaded by clicking the link above.
As we enter the uncharted waters of a post-Brexit world, let us continue to work and pray for a world in which divisions are healed and all can flourish as God intended.
Inspired by our faith, we pursue justice and peace in and through community.
