SUMMARY:Singing Week - Wild Goose Resource Group Week 2 (LIMITED AVALIABILITY)
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=””]\nSinging Week with Lim Swee-Hong 林瑞峰 and the Wild Goose Resource Group’s Iain McLarty and Jane Bentley. \n\nWe believe everyone can sing\, and in the power of singing to build community and connect with God. Join us for a week of sharing songs from around the world and from the Iona Community led by Jane Bentley and Iain McLarty from the Wild Goose Resource Group and Singaporean composer and educator Lim Swee Hong 林瑞峰.   \n  \nWe’ll trace the journeys of our songs\, listening to what the words and music reveal about resilience and hope\, justice and healing. We’ll sing in harmony with worshippers across the world: from Scotland to South Africa\, Palestine to Pakistan. There may even be drums.  \n  \nWe are passionate about singing as a communal and transformative act rather than a polished performance. Our approach to song is all about inclusivity\, participation\, and social justice. All are welcome. Music is too important to just be left to the professionals!  \n\n\n\nProgramme leaders \n\nLim Swee-Hong 林瑞峰 is one of the most prominent and prolific Asian hymnwriters and a sought-after leader for global seminars and conferences dealing with worship and sacred music. He has taught in several educational institutions in Asia and North America and is currently the Deer Park Associate Professor of Sacred Music at Emmanuel College of Victoria University in the University of Toronto\, Canada. \n\n[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=””]\n\n \n\n\nJane Bentley is a Music Resource Worker with the Wild Goose Resource Group who specialises in bringing people together through song and rhythm and is passionate about making music at the margins. She found her path while spending three years working at Iona Abbey\, later leading to a PhD in musical interaction\, participation\, and wellbeing.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=””]\n  \n \nIain McLarty is a Music Resource Worker with the Wild Goose Resource Group and a choir and orchestra conductor who loves to get people singing together as a way to connect with God and express faith. He is regularly involved in planning and leading worship at national and international events and co-edited the Church of Scotland’s new hymnary\, “God Welcomes All”. \n\n\n\n\n\nCosts \n6 Nights: £870.00 per adult\, £435.00 for reduced rate. \n\n\n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_btn title=”BOOK HERE” style=”custom” custom_background=”#568ea4″ custom_text=”#eae8e8″ css=”” link=”url:https%3A%2F%2Fportal.freetobook.com%2Freservations%3Fw_id%3D43736%26w_tkn%3DZ8ayvaEvw2SsrbCpGHLzeQZxQGqxQJy163aSHXVJnHbgCb53vffml4WKihlt5%26checkIn%3D2026-08-15%26stayLength%3D6″][vc_btn title=”Essential Booking Information” style=”custom” custom_text=”#666666″ css=”” link=”url:https%3A%2F%2Fiona.org.uk%2Fvisit-and-stay%2Fiona-abbey-essential-booking-information-2026%2F|target:_blank” el_class=”tealoutlinebtn generalbtn rightbtn”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][/vc_column][/vc_row]
