DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=””]\nExperiencing nature: exploring a spirituality of the environment. \nThrough direct experience of the natural world on Iona\, and an exploration of the place of nature in Christian tradition\, we will seek to explore an eco-spirituality appropriate for our times.  \nAt a time of deepening climate and biodiversity crisis we are in need of a new environmental spirituality. A spirituality that recognises the presence of God in all creation\, that can underpin our political and social action and sustain us in the face of eco-despair.   \nDuring this week we will discover some of the plants and birds around Iona Abbey and on pilgrimage. And we’ll hear the stories that have been woven around them. We will also explore the role of the natural world in Christian tradition.   \nAbove all\, we will reflect on how we can take these experiences home with us. We’ll find ways to be in closer relationship with the natural world\, wherever we happen to be\, even in the most unpromising surroundings.  \nProgramme leader \n\n\n \n\nBob Gilbert is an environmental writer and broadcaster\, his books include ‘The Green London Way\, ‘The Missing Musk‘ and ‘Ghost Trees’. His work for BBC Radio 4 includes ‘The Sussuration of Trees‘\, and ‘The Passion: a Pilgrimage in Plants’. DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=””]\nThis week will invite us to explore the meaning and practice of hope from multiple dimensions—spiritual\, theological\, relational\, and communal. \nSet within the rhythms of community life at Iona Abbey\, the week offers a space for reflection\, worship\, and shared conversation rooted in the Iona Community’s commitment to justice\, peace\, and the renewal of all creation. \nThrough prayer\, group dialogue\, and intentional community living\, we will engage with hope not as a vague ideal\, but as a lived and transformative force in our lives and in the world. \nProgramme leaders \n\nJane Hodges is an Anglican priest and has served in an East End parish and is a prison chaplain. Prior to ordination Jane worked in housing and social care\, in inner city areas of Sheffield\, Manchester and London.  \nJane is a Member of the Iona Community and joint convenor of the London family group.  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n\n \n\nCatriona Robertson is a former warden of Iona Abbey and previously directed the Christian Muslim Forum. She’s inspired by Howard Thurman’s words\, ‘Don’t ask what the world needs.
