CENTRAL & SOUTHERN EUROPE

There are around 20 Associate Members living in central and southern Europe.

This includes Associate Members in Austria, Belgium, the Czech Republic, France, Italy, Luxembourg and Spain. We don’t yet meet as a Region, but are making plans to do so in the near future. We have active Regions in the Netherlands, in the German-speaking countries of Europe, and in Scandinavia.

HOW WE WORK IN THIS REGION

Informal links are maintained between Associate Members in this Region. Many take part regularly in our Common Concern Networks, and our monthly online global worship.

KEY PARTNERS AND NETWORKS IN THIS REGION

The Iona Community is a Member of Oikosnet Europe, an ecumenical network of Christian academies and laity centres in Europe. Through this network we have a particularly close connection with the Agape International Ecumenical Centre in northern Italy. Established as an intentional community focussing on peace and reconcilaition after World War II, Agape welcomes volunteers and guests to their centre. In addition, through Oikosnet Europe, we have links with the Orthodox Academy of Crete, the Ecumenical Academy in Prague, with the Lux Mundi Ecumenical Centre and Los Rubios Centre in southern Spain, and with other Oikosnet member.

We also have strong links with the Taize Community in France.
