weeWONDERBOX: Strangers & Friends (1) – Where Are We Now?
October 10, 2016 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Free
Can Scotland be a place of welcome for migrants and refugees?
The first in weeWONDERBOX’s ‘Strangers & Friends’ occasional series of events, which will focus on issues arising from the situation of refugees and asylum seekers.
Tonight, we welcome Sarah Craig, Senior Lecturer from the School of Law at Glasgow University and Co-Convenor for Law at GRAMNet; and Amal Azzudin, a campaigner and human rights activist, and former Glasgow Girl. The Glasgow Girls were a group of Drumchapel school friends who successfully resisted the deportation of fellow students. Their story was subsequently produced in a highly successful, ground-breaking theatrical musical show, more info here.
Sarah and Amal will facilitate a conversation and discussion on whether there is scope for Scotland to be a place of welcome.
Tonight is a collaboration between the Craighead Institute, GRAMNet and weeWONDERBOX.
This joint event is also part of the Craighead Institute’s ‘Crossing Boundaries’ series of conversations, which runs between September and December (usually on the 2nd Monday of the month). Further details of these events can be found on Craighead’s website. More info …
Cost: Free, though donations welcome on the night. £5 suggested.
Booking: Places may be limited, so please book here via EventBrite.
Venue: 21 Carlton Court, Glasgow, Scotland G5 9JP, Scotland.
