New Iona Abbey Songbook

Give us a song?

Members, Associates and Friends of the Iona Community are invited to submit songs to be considered for inclusion in a new Iona Abbey Songbook.

New Iona Abbey Songbook

The new songbook will be a substantial collection representing the concerns and spirituality of the Community. It will become the main songbook used in the Abbey. It will include worship resources written over the past four decades which have proved their worth, some songs which are widely known internationally and ecumenically, and materials produced or collected by Members, Associates and Friends. We hope that it will be published in late 2026 and will also be available for sale through Wild Goose Publications.

The contents of the book will reflect the weekly pattern of worship in the Abbey (Morning and Evening worship, Arriving and Departing, Holy Communion and Agape, Justice and Peace, Prayers for Healing, Commitment, Care for Creation and Climate Justice). It will also focus on  general concerns of the Community such as inclusion; the use of money, time and resources; renewal of local church life; ecumenism and multi-faith relations; poverty and the marginalised.

Submitting your songs

If you have songs or hymns suitable for congregational singing which you have written or collected which you would like to offer for consideration, please send these to [email protected] by Wednesday 30th April. These will be considered initially by the editorial group and shortlisted songs will be considered by a wider group.

Please note that while all submissions will be accepted and considered, unfortunately not all can be included in the collection, and it will also not be possible to enter into correspondence about songs other than those selected for publication.
