WORSHIP AT IONA ABBEY

Part of our commitment when living in community on Iona is to join together in daily services.

During the season (March to early November), staff, volunteers and guests lead morning and evening services in the Abbey Church, focusing on welcome, justice and peace, healing, commitment and communion. All our services are ecumenical, including Sunday Communion. These services are open to all, wherever you are from.

All are welcome to explore the worship spaces in and around the Abbey: the Abbey Church with its various chapels, St. Oran’s Chapel in the Reilig Oran, and the Michael Chapel facing east.

Morning services

Monday – Saturday: 9:00am

Morning services from Monday to Saturday follow the prayers of the Iona Community. We remain standing at the end of this service to leave for the work of the day. This is a powerful reminder that our whole day is enveloped in worship.

On Sunday mornings, we share an ecumenical service of Holy Communion at 10:30am.

Evening services follow a weekly pattern with a different focus each evening.
