International Women’s Day

Jenny James, Kathy Galloway, Jill Stoner and Joy Connor, pictured left to right, have all recently received awards or honours.

On this International Women’s Day, 8th March 2024, we celebrate news of awards and honours recently received by a few Iona Community Women and those in close partnership with the Iona Community.

Jenny James

Kathy Galloway

Kathy has been nominated to appear as one of the ‘Women on the Wall’ at Glasgow Women’s Library (GWL). ‘The Women on the Wall will be a living tribute to great women.’ GWL. Kathy’s name will appear on the wall of the remarkable Glasgow Women’s Library building, and a description of her contribution as a feminist, activist, writer and theologian will appear on a dedicated section of the GWL website:

Jill Stoner

Jill Stoner is chairwoman of the Cromarty Care Project and for her work in the Cromarty community, she has received a British Empire Medal (BEM). Jill has said the honour is to recognise all the hard work she and her team of trustees and volunteers have carried out to help others in the community.

Joy Connor

Joy Connor, co-Leader of the Wellspring Community in Australia, has worked for decades in advocacy, education, organising and support for Refugees. She was awarded the Medal of the Order Australia in January 2024 in recognition of this lifetime dedication – our congratulations, and deep admiration to Joy!
