The Wild Goose Resource Group & Holy City offer an unusual and challenging liturgy for a Sunday morning, as part of the International Society of Religion, Literature & Culture‘s weekend conference at Glasgow University. This, the ISRLC’s 18th Biennial Conference takes the theme: ‘Lines in Sand’ – Borders, Conflicts and Transitions in Religion, Literature and Culture‘. More info …
The liturgy focuses on the history of wall-building and the struggles for land and identity in Israel and Palestine over the course of three millennia. It involves the building of a symbolic wall in the sanctuary space, representing the many divisions between peoples, religions, and cultures in Israel-Palestine, but also pointing to the (admittedly difficult) hope for justice, peace, and inclusion in those troubled lands, as well as in our own.
A previously published version of this – Fencing in God’s People (WGRG Liturgy Booklet 08) is available here at the WGRG shop …
