My calling in life has been to support people through change – to flourish, to adapt, to cope – as an architect, project and asset
manager, but also in charity governance, volunteering and mentoring.

I’m on the board of a European cultural heritage charity that has 240 member organisations in over 40 countries. I set up a foundation in Hungary and I’m a trustee of another in Bulgaria; European values mean a lot to me.

I have been a member across a spectrum of Christian traditions from house church to being chair of a cathedral council; my heart is shared between a Northumbrian church built in 1100 and England’s second oldest Presbyterian church.

I served as the project manager for the MacLeod Centre for two and-a-half years, aware of the sensitivities of memory, as well as
the need for financial and operational realism, and relationships with the island community. George MacLeod’s formative mission
to bridge between ministry and trades resonates deeply with me, having run training in traditional skills and being an Authorised Local Minister in rural communities.

What makes me laugh is satire, like I’m Sorry I Haven’t a Clue; life is one song to the tune of another.
What moves me is the beauty around us, which we overlook in our haste and at our cost.
