On his recent visit to Brisbane, John Bell recorded a podcast for ‘On the Way’ –  a series which explores the deeper mysteries of faith, meaning, and beauty. In it he discusses the way in which music can powerfully shape and change not only our experience of worship, but also how we understand ourselves and God; and he explores what the songs we sing tell us about what we really believe and how we think we should live.

John Bell is a hymn writer, composer, lecturer and broadcaster, and an ordained minister of the Church of Scotland and member of the Iona Community.

Have listened with thanks to this podcast. Have had the pleasure to twice attend workshops with John Bell in Canada. No words to describe my belief in a person like John Bell for his strength, talent and all-inclusive ideals.

Hi there! I’m wondering about singing one of John Bell’s hymns on an album I’m releasing; he is so talented! I’m not famous or anything; it’s just a simple acoustic album and my fave song. I’m wondering if there’s a way to contact him and ask permission for this? This probably isn’t where to ask but figured I could try ! Thank you for this podcast.

Have had the privilege of attending a workshop with John and also taking a course at VST (Vancouver, BC) – wish he would come back!
